The Parental Shopping Arena!

Welcome to my first blog! I am a little nervous, so bear with me please, while I get the hang of this. My name is Charlene. I am a stay-at-home parent of three children. Their ages are 3,4 and 16. I love to test out new products, try out new stores and restaurants, and have a wide range of genres I read. I love to coupon, stack my discounts, and make the best use of the time I have, with my children in tow, staying under budget. You are probably asking yourself, why read this blog? Sounds a lot like the same thing I do, so what makes this person any different? Because I am willing to be the guinea pig. I will test out products that are sent to me by those obscure companies that say “Yes, we are free”, “Try our products”, post about my experiences at stores, rate the restaurants I bring my family to, and the varied mobile applications that are supposed to make your life easier, save you money, and not consume your time. Influenster Darling VoxBox

Infleunster's Darling VoxBox was a box I signed up for in order to test out different products.  It came with several products and coupons for some as well. I enjoyed using the different products and plan to blog about each of them at a different time, but all in all, I find Influenster an interesting site and application. You don't have to buy anything, you do however, advertise on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I got to try a Duncan cake cup that was delicious. I found that the Eva-NYC tecture spray smelled good, didn't frizz up my hair and had a strong hold. The Live clean was perfect for my children's skin. It left them smooth, clean and no allergic reactions. The Energy Gummies are awesome, especially when you need that extra kick in the morning or before your work out! Giving Stocks as gifts??? What???

I was looking for the perfect gift for my 17 year old daughter. She is rather unique, never has a list of what she wants for gifts...always says.."Surprise me". I decided to google unique gifts for a teenager. The usual popped up, but nothing seemed right..until I spied  http://www.giveashare.com/ .  After looking through the links, stocks available...I showed it to my husband. He remembered when he was a teenager, his grandpa had told him to start looking into stocks and bonds, but at the time...he didn't really have an interest in it and internet access wasn't a constant, so he forgot.  We decided, this would be an excellent gift. Nielsen has a lot of different venues for making money.

Nielsen has been around for a fairly long time. I used to do a lot with their company when I worked in Marketing Research. Its hard to find what links to click for Nielsen, unless you really search...that has its pros and its cons.  Cons-You may find Nielsen under different names such as Harris Polls, NCP (National Consumer Panel) and Pinecone Research. unless you word your search just right. I have heard some rumors about Nielson Homescan panel for scanning products doesn't pay well, for the work you have to put in, I will edit this as soon as I find out for myself...which will be soon. Also, they aren't always open for sign ups...so if you can't sign up now..try...try again. Pros- Once you sign up, you don't have to do surveys, if you get an envelope from any of the companies above, chances are there is cash in there just from looking in the envelope. Shadow Shopper...not the best opportunity!

I worked for this company many years ago. It used to be, you could become a gold member by the amount of high detailed and successful shops you did. You had to be active for atleast three months, or your account went dormant. You could pay to be come a gold member to get the hire paying jobs more quickly..but I didn't see the point in paying for the better paying assignments when I could obtain a gold membership from just doing the work. I decided to look back into it and I found the usual introductory forms to fill out. There are also certificates you can gain to be able to open up more jobs. But, there was something new. If you applied for ten jobs in the first day, you could get 7 day gold membership..BUT you had to find jobs in your area that were over 7 days old and that didn't already have people scheduled. SurveyJunkie...is the money worth the effort?

I checked out Survey Junkie. Its a website where you earn points per survey. Every point is a cent. If you accumulate enough points to make $10, you can redeem those points and gain $10 in your paypal account or by a gift card. In the first day, within two hours, I accumulated 423 points. I haven't been able to be on it much after a couple days, BUT...if you do a survey, and you end up not qualifying, you still gain 2-3 points for filling out the initial questionnaire. Now, the whole process isn't hard, and if you do qualify..you can gain a lot of points quickly...50, 60, 70 points..so theoretically. if you qualify for 1-2 surveys a day, you can make $10 dollars every week or so. Some of the surveys are 5 minutes long, some are as long as 40 minutes. Free Laptop and $50! Too good to be true, right? Or is it?

So, in the beginning..I was entirely skeptical. I saw this lady posting on facebook, this is what she posted.
